I've worked as a Town Hall Manager and Court Assessor in recent years and wore a black kilt to work regularly.

As an educator I wear my kilt on John Muir's birthday (21 April) each year. I serve dry graham crackers (Muir ate dry graham crackers as a student in Dunbar, Scotland, and as a student at the University of Wisconsin, Madison). I serve as a chaperone at the Winter Formal and wear my formal kilt. Other times include the Robert Burns Supper (January) and the highland games (August).

Relative newbie to the kilt here. I'm a programmer/web developer for a trade magazine for the design community. Our office is very casual--people dress as they please, bring in their dogs, etc... I will no doubt start wearing a kilt to work sometime early next year, but I can't wear the same kilt every day so I'm building a "collection." Once I start it'll be the rare day I wear pants to work.

I am self employed as a full time bladesmith. I forge, grind, and do finish work on swords with stones sitting on a bench. Almost everything I do at work is kilt friendly, although If I am grinding I wear a leather shop apron over everything. Also when forge welding, to prevent perforations in the kilt from flying molten borax welding flux. Otherwise, the kilt alone is fine for what I do. I also wear a kilt nearly everywhere else I go unless the weather conditions prevent it, or there are some situations where it would be inappropriate. Not many though.

I am a paralegal and work in an office closed to the public. I've been wearing kilts a couple times a week for several years and nobody has questioned it, or seemed to care.

I teach community college and I've worn a kilt to class every day but Halloween for a few years now. I wore pants last year on Halloween just to mess with my students. After the first few weeks the students in my classes have stopped asking questions, but I've heard from other instructors that they get asked about "that guy in a dress" all semester long.
The management around my campus has been really positive about the whole thing.

It seems that education is very kilt-friendly...

Or self-employed seems to be a popular one as well.

I teach and do wear my kilt every now and then. I will be wearing it more and more as the year goes on. The best comments so far is by a woman I teach with to her sister, who also teaches at the same college. " He has taken to wearing a kilt" Now don't we use the phase "he has taken to..." with the following ... the bottle? Just seemed a funny way to say it - but hey, part of the fun of wearing a kilt is to gently mess with folks minds

    regards
from the one who has taken to wearing a kilt

Our company has uniform regulations and unfortunately a kilt isn't acceptable.

I'm a high school English teacher. I've worn my kilt to school every Friday for the past year. My students and the faculty now come to expect it. When I wear one more often, people tend to get confused that it is Friday though.
BTW Rob Wright...just because you want to be an educator, does not mean that you won't be able to wear the kilt to school.
