					I would agree with AA and suspect that this is a "composite" photo, the 19th century version of photo-shopping. I've seen a photo of General Sheridan's staff during the Indian Wars period done in a similar fashion, with Sheridan's horse standing just a few feet from a cannon being fired!

	Indeed Todd & AA. I can also cite a couple such 19th century compositions I've seen of Old West gunfighters and more than one (post) Ame. Civil War era picture

					Thanks, Robert.  So the particular photo at the beginning of this thread is probably a composition, but that doesn't detract from its significance in 19C Montreal.
