I found these on a site just now and thought they were perfect for this thread, all the comments are from the source site

2nd October 1952: A man sewing the back pleats of a kilt to canvas.

9th September 1952: Queen Elizabeth II and The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh with their two young children, Princess Anne and Prince Charles outside Balmoral Castle. The Queen succeeded her father, George VI, in February 1952 and later added Princes Andrew and Edward to the royal family. Queen Victoria's husband, Prince Albert, purchased Balmoral Castle in 1846, and the small castle which stood in the 7,000 hectare wooded estate was redeveloped in the 1850s.The granite building was designed by Aberdeen architect William Smith with suggestions from Albert himself, who decided the interior decoration should represent a Highland shooting box with tartan or thistle chintzes, and walls decorated with trophies and weapons. Queen Victoria often visited the Highlands with her family, especially after Albertfs death in 1861, and Balmoral is still a popular retreat for the present royal family. 9th September 1952: Captain Alwyne Farqharson of Invergate and his wife arriving at the Braemar Highland Gathering in Aberdeenshire. Highland games are held all over Scotland, and descendants of Scottish immigrants have preserved the tradition in Canada and America. Typical events include dancing, tossing the caber (a pine wood pole approximately 5 metres long) and throwing the weight, a ball weighing about 25 kg. (Photo by Hulton Archive/Getty Images)

circa 1950: A boy wearing a kilt sits on a rock with Edinburgh Castle, historically the principal royal fortress of Scotland, perched on the massive volcanic rock that towers over the city behind him. Edinburgh Castle became a royal residence when James I was murdered in Perth (1437) and his widow, Joan Beaufort, moved the Royal Court and her son, James II, to Edinburgh. The oldest part of the building is St Margaret's Chapel dating from c.1100 and named after King Malcolm III's wife. The chapel only survived Robert the Bruce's attack in 1313 because he ordered his men to leave it untouched. The Scottish crown jewels, the Honours of Scotland, are also on display there having been discovered by Sir Walter Scott, after having been hidden during the time of Oliver Cromwell.
