Sorry for the confusion - didn't mean to disparage anyone's Regiment, especially the RHR, whom I hold in the highest esteem. In fact, I think they're almost as good as soldiers as Seaforth.

But yes, I still think they're wearing their sporrans at the proper height, even if a lot of civvies think it's in vogue to wear them to high to serve their purpose.
No Probs, i appreciate that. The sporrans that used to be worn by Junior Ranks were a lot shorter and different pattern although still with the 5 bells.

Likewise i think this photo is about 50 years old while the uniform may stay the same the way its worn can change!!

My appolgies for offending anyone it was not inteded that way! Thank-you for correcting my misunderstanding on that different regiments had different lengths for the length of the sporran. I had look at some different vintage photos and noted the length on those. My recently deceased uncle was a Gordon Highlander in the 60's.
Again my appologies for the offence though not intended. I will be more prudent in future.

Ah, yes. And quite possibly ended up having to pose for a photo like this because he came to the attention of the RSM a bit too often.

What is a NAAFI? As a 17+ year squid and the Navy equivalent of a CSM for a purple unit I know a lot of military speak but that is a new one to me.

As someone said above that CSM has been around the block a few times and so however he chooses to wear the uniform, be it by regulation or not, is the Correct way .

    Navy Army Air Force Institution

The used to run the Bars/canteen on base so they were called NAAFIs.

When it came to closing up you would be known as the Canteen Cowboy
