Leather tooling attempt

Let me share my first attempt at leather hand tooling.


The design is transferred onto the leather by carving with a ceramic blade:


After some tooling around with bevelers, backgrounders, and more carving:


My first attempt at dyeing leather, much less dyeing anything:



The design is from one of the leathercrafting books by Al Stohlman.

Wow! Great job. I've been doing leatherwork for years and never had the gumption to try tooling like that. Is it carved at all? That's my balking point. Maybe I'll have to get brave!
