Most dancers hose are indeed a version of tartan hose, but as the dancers almost exclusively wear the dress versions of their respective tartans (with prominent white portions of color within the tartan itself) the hose they wear to match are in large part white as they are also made to dress tartan color spec's. Some do wear moer simple diced hose, usually red and white. Unless you are wanting tartan hose to match a Dress tartan (Dress MacDonald is a very different look than regular Clan MacDonald Modern) non Dress tartan hose will have barely if any white at all, maybe in a skinny stripe, but it certainly will not be the predominant color as it is in the dancer's dress tartan hose.
