It almost put me in mind of my favorite article of knit clothing that I have, this black, double-breasted sweater-vest. I wear it under suit jackets a lot, and lately have been wearing it with my kilts without a jacket.
It doesn't look like much laying on the counter here like this, but I really like the way it lays on me. I'm waiting for some photos to come back from a Christmas party where I had this on.
I agree that if you lost the collar and the wings off the shoulder, changed the shape of it a bit, and tightened up the knit, well, you'd have a different garment, but maybe one that could go more places.
Regards,
Rex.

Thank you for your opinions I am taking all this in and will pass it on to make a better article of clothing , Nighthawk, yes they are and yours truly will sitting in with the band playing bohran, and some piping(very little as Ewan is a master) The vest is just a prototype for now once I have a final design I'll once ask for the kind opinions and go from there.

I tend to agree as such it doesn't work, but a nice tightly knitted one might just do the trick.

I try to stay away from the RenFaire look and if I'm going to wear a sweater then it will be a regular Cardigan, a sweater vest, or a good old Irish Aran sweater. No offense, but the "look" is not for me.

Of course you do Hawk, if you beg and plead hard enough she might sell you the prototype!
I like the look, just need a tighter knit.

Man... yall are on crack, and not the good kind!?
That outfit is cool as hell! Of course if you don't go for the Renfaire look, no you're not gonna buy it. But I think it works as good as any "proto-renaissance" stuff I've seen put together. Futher to, I think the looser knit really works with the "Renn Faire" look because it appears more hand made than machine made (if you've ever owned a hand made Aran Sweater you probably know what I'm talkin' about). It doesn't hurt that the model is sporting that rough 5 o'clock shadow, too (might wanna put in a disclaimer about that?).
Anywho... guid on ye, McHummel! And pish-posh on the descenters, I say... :P
PS: An' if Arlen would wear it, ye know its cuil! I mean, did yall see his wedding kit? Kick ****, dude.

It looks too much like a costume for me. I would rarely wear a ghillie shirt: just at highland games when it isn't very hot. However the overall design goes well with the ghillie shirt. I agree with the others that the knit is too open.
