Halesowen tartan

I think each tartan is nice, but I liked the Halesowen one better. All in all, it's just nice to see kilts and tartan getting more media exposure!

I read Philosophy for four years at the University of St Andrews, and I spend my first year in the mighty Hamilton Hall I also spent time in my third year studying abroad in Aarhus, Danmark.

In my day Hamilton was a ladies residence and I had quite a few lunches there in my first term when I was in digs before moving into St Regulus for the rest of my time. I was at St Mary's reading Theology.

from Edinburgh. Your time at St. Andrews has obviously had a positive influence. Like McClef my preference is for the BC but bearing in mind the XTMS tartan colours your Halesowen will probably be the favourite here.

I've already met my first St Andrian Alumni on here!

I did see William a few times, though I never spoke to him. Seemed like a very nice guy from what I heard. Saw him in TESCO once and a few times in the Union.

I was very lucky to be in Hamilton in a year of huge over subscription for places. They had to put me in a converted common room - the Regents Room - which was great as it had ionic columns, a fire place, decrotaive ceiling and velvet curtains - oh and the views! After Hamilton I moved out near to the Cannongate and then spent the last two years on North Street next to the Police Station.

Not sure whether you know but Hamilton was sold by the Uni to make into executive timeshares but after two to three years the place has had no work on it and left abandoned You'll be happy to here that Regs is still going strong.

St Andrews really had a huge positive impact on me and I can't imagine being happier anywhere else. I got an honorary lifetime membership to the Students' Association for my running societies and even founding one which is now one of the biggest there! I had such a good time that my sister followed me up a few years later - she originally vowed not to go anywhere near my uni but one visit and she was hooked! Really, truly a special and fantastic place - my Hogwarts! :P

Alex, you are totally right. More and more proof that we Scots need not be the only ones wearing Kilts or having tartans. Everyone deserves to share the joy!

Small world, my daughter Lara Cunningham studied Modern History at St. Andrews from 2000 to 2004. She stayed in St. Regulus for her first year then shared a university flat near the east beach with some fellow students for the next three years.

My first girlfriend did Modern History and German from 2000 to 2005!

I think I prefer the blue tartan, purly because it's more colourful. I nearly missed the item on TV. I'd just got in from work and was having my dinner when my wife, who was watching TV in the lounge, called out "Come and see this, you'll like it". I watched the full item on the BBC iplayer and decided to post it to Xmarks so 'The Rabble' could see it as well. It was a shame about some of the negative comments from the public, especially the woman who thought the kilt was "A bit girly". Thank God she's in a minority !
I really love the Black Country (I support West Bromwich Albion) and think the people there are the salt of the earth. And now they have a tartan to sport as well - Great Stuff !
