It's interesting how they say the pipes were banned some 450 years earlier then they were. Up here in Canada the factual bit on Wallace was great. The movie was hollywood entertainment. 1995 what a year for THE KILT, it was a shame that they used an Austrailian (Gibson) and an Irishman (Neeson), for the title characters. Shame it was too early for Ewen MacGregor to play his clansmans part. and alas no place for Sir Sean
Perhaps someone will do a movie about the '45. More kilts and claymores

Why? There are plenty Brits in Hollywood making the dough pretending to be Americans in films and nobody cares.

Except Hugh Laurie in House has the best American accent I've ever heard, and Brian Cox has an amazing American accent (I thought he was American until I looked him up on IMDB). Neeson's Scottish accent was good, but Gibson's was spotty.

True, but Michael Caine has an atrocious American accent, but I'll watch him every time and so does everyone else..

Mel Gibson is an American, born in New York. His father moved the family to Australia to avoid having his eldest son serve in Viet Nam. When the boy came of age he enlisted in the Australian Army and volunteered for service in 'Nam. So much for parental planning.
Mel Gibson launched his film career in Australia, then moved to America to capitalize on his success. Love him, or hate him, his films do big bucks at the box office making him one of the few hyphenates (actor-writer-director-producer) in Hollywood who can finance his own projects.

After observing this film, I am pretty sure I am a descendant from Mad Steven.
It's MY island.
You mean Ireland?
Yeah. It's mine.
