Your full weight, hand stitched, made to measure kilt will be an heirloom that will outlast you. Whereas your current one, will probably not.
I don't see why you would buy such a work of art in anything other than your clan tartan. You can always buy another SWK or whatever when the first is worn out and buy something different then.
If you are going to buy a universal, I'd go for a Black Watch - IMHO it is a genuine universal having been issued to SO many military units over the years.
If you're planning on wearing the m2m, wool kilt for ceremonies though, I guess the clergy would be the next best choice. To be honest, I was ordained 8 years ago, and specialise in wedding blessings, and yet only two couples have asked me to wear a kilt (and then only when I expressed the wish to do so because the groom was).
