Beautiful work! I'd like to see closeups of the carving as well!

Well done, Arlen. Good luck with the auction. Might I suggest oiling them with linseed or Swedish oil? It makes the carving and grain pop out and preserves the wood. Also gives the sticks a nice feel lto the hand.

Thanks for all the compliments. So far it's only the smaller stuff that's sold, but it's got a wee while left. And I just love woodworking anyway.
Nick, the Oak and Beech staffs are actually really light! They were already very seasoned when I got them and they're a lot lighter than I tend to go for, but the are nice and sturdy. Here's a close up of the top of the Oak one for you.

For the rest of you, here's the best I can do showing you the carvings.

I used coconut oil on it, Vmac. I'm planning to get some Linseed oil soon, though!
And, just because I am amazed, here is a picture of the surprise package I received from Diane's Granny today.

She's not doing woodworking anymore so sent me all her stuff!!!!
I had to leave all mine behind in Scotland and now look! I am very, very lucky!

The walking sticks look great! I really do like the wolf..but I am a little bias. Congrats on the woodworking treasures.
Keep up the good work,
Sara

Great sticks! Too bad the one you made me got lost in the mail (which one was id, do you think? Royal Mail or US Postal?). I think I'll follow your lead, though, and try my hand at making my own.

It was Royal Mail. They still owe me almost $200 in lost packages.
Over the last year about 60% of the packages I sent overseas just disappeared. Even those where I paid extra for tracking. (Including a set of knitting needles I made for Diane. 8 needles in every size. It took 3 months!)
Now that I'm in the U.S. I'd love to make you another one. It'd be a walking stick rather than a Shillelagh since good branches are hard to come by here.
let me know if you'd like one and what design.

I'm thrilled to have high quality woodworking tools again and not just be working using a penknife.
The sticks on Ebay didn't sell but I will go ahead and make some more and just have them all for sale on my website.
