Matching the Hose and Flashes

I've tried both, and must admit I prefer the solid garter ties to tartan flashes with Argyll or Diced hose, it simply comes down to balance as I see it.

I'll second (third?) the above. Either diced/arglye hose with solid flashes, or solid hose with tartan flashes. Picturing tartan flashes with argyle hose in my head unbalanced seems to cover it.
