I spotted that my son's online avatar was wearing a virtual kilt, but he shows no inclination to wear one in real life.
Perhaps all he needs is encouragement ? My kids both got a big kick out of the "Dressed to Kilt" fashion show that was broadcast on FOX just a couple of days ago. I never expected to be ahead of the curve in fashion, but we ARE, gentlemen !

The vice principal even came to say hello to us at the parent teacher conference. So the administration has no problem with it. His counselor was my sophomore English teacher, many years ago. There are at least two rather talented athletes in the high school that wear kilts, and more young men have asked Ben about where to get one than I ever imagined would. We refer people here, of course.

I guess I enjoy a bit of celebrity because of what I do for a living. My kids have been asked about it all their school lives. When they say "he makes swords for a living", many ask rather incredulously, "really"? We have deep roots in the school district as well. My older brother was in the first graduating class of the newly consolidated district in 1966. My Mom served on the school board, and I have been personally acquainted with all but one superintendent the district has had since it's formation. There are few on staff who have personal experience with me (fortunate for my sons).

That is so awesome! One of the counselors in the school I work at is almost "converted" to wearing a kilt. He saw an article in the local newspaper that was very positive about them. As far as students, I have only had a couple that tell me they like it. I hope, with time, we start heading in the direction your school has taken!

I'm glad to hear that your son wore his kilt to school. Kudos to him and to you also for letting him be his own man by wearing his Gordon into a school environment. I'm also glad to hear about other schools and administrators that are able to encourage young people to not blindly follow the fashion trends showing up at schools today. Kudos gentlemen.
I go kilted at least every Friday and for the second year am still trying to convince some students to don the kilts they say are sitting at home. Well done you guys!
