It is a nice thought but the problem there, Ted, is that a velvet doublet is very much evening wear and the blue belt has a heavy brass buckle which is stitched-in and cannot be changed for a silver or chrome one, and the sporran is very much a day sporran.

I do like the thought of having midnight blue in place of black for formal accessories, though...

I fully understand where you are coming from Ted. That shade of blue (as with Forest Green and deep Ruby Red) is supremely suitable for evening wear.

Unfortunately it does not show clearly, but the tweed Argyll I am wearing in the first image IS blue-based mix in colour. It usually records as being a shade of grey in photos - a difficult one to capture accurately - but it is blue!

Looking good, Hamish. The blue coloring appears to be more subtle than I expected. I really like the plain yet elegant appearance of the sporran.

Seems to me a belt like yours (except with a silver-colored buckle) would make a good alternative to the traditional waistplate and kilt belt for dressy and semi-formal wear.

Oh dear Hamish! Sorry, I cannot go with you on the coloured leather work, it just won't do for me. However, McRostie do make superb leather work and my favorite sporran, sporran belt and kilt belt were made by them ,some 20 plus years ago and serve me well still.

Great look!!! Congrats on the sporran, but I'm more intrigued by the jacket...(showing my newbie-ness here), What do you call that jacket, and where can I find one?
