I have a belt like that and I don't notice the inside buckle at all.

I don't notice it either.... I have both the buckle and the Velcro style and actually prefer the buck as it doesn't seem quite as stiff. I have not noticed any excessive wear either as my belt doesn't do a lot of moving once I buckle it on
