Argyll Buttons

This has perhaps been discussed before, (although I could not find a thread specifically about this,) but, what's the deal with the diamond shape buttons on black argyll jackets? Seems like some folks hate them, but that's all I ever see. I just bought an argyll on-line and it has the chrome diamond shape buttons with the thistle design. Is there another option? Black buttons? Pewter?

I was actually wondering the same thing. The bright metal buttons do seem to dress it up a bit.

It wouldn't be that hard to remove the bright buttons and replace them with some of your choosing.

I have, I recently replaced the shiny square chrome buttons on my black argyll with some nice tasteful round Irish harp jobs. It was both easier and harder than I thought. I will present a thrilling photo essay on the process soon.
