Those are the regimental badges of the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers, the Royal Ulster Rifles, and the Royal Irish Fusiliers, which were amalgamated to form the Royal Irish Rangers in 1968.

Note the brat that the piper's wearing. Triolamj, if you're going to continue to insist that the cloak of the RIR is a brat, you at least owe us an explanation as to why the Royal Irish Regiment themselves refer to it as a "great cloak".
They're obviously not wearing their customary uniform. They're not wearing their usual color or style of tunic. Perhaps they're also not wearing their customary brats. Perhaps because they're on tour and a lighter fly plaid takes up less space and weight than a heavy brat. When you travel to a destination where you're going to wear your kilt, do you take all your accesories with you?
Triolamj, I would also suggest that before you wax any further loquacious upon topics of which you so evidently haven't the faintest clue and then proceed to smugly insult others with "a duck is a duck is still a duck", you might consider doing even the slightest modicum of research. It is far preferable to keep your mouth shut and be thought a fool than to open it and remove all trace of reasonable doubt.

I don't need to argue anything. I made my point with photos that show exactly what I was talking about. Read the link that CajunScot posted and note the difference between the long cloak and the short cloak. Also note that the information is secondhand, but the MOD doesn't post the information on the official RIR website at:
http://www.army.mod.uk/royalirish
I did my research 2 years ago when I put on a presentation for the local Irish American Heritage Association. That included the brat, the leine, the ionar, the Dungivan jacket, and the Clodagh tartan. I also know about the difference between saffron and crocus. I don't knitpick and I don't repeat the obvious.

I found an exact replica of the RIR Tara Brooch on the Internet at the British Shop out of Buffalo, NY. Instead of button shanks it has a regular pin clasp at the back. The webpage says Art Pewter Silver, but I think that's wrong judging from quality of the work in the picture. Art Pewter Silver has a really nice and really large "Skye" penannular brooch which has a very Celtic design which you probably can't touch for less than $50.00. If or when you decide to buy a Tara brooch make sure just what the diameter is because some of the nicer ones are a small 2 inches or less.
Now that I have a Tara Brooch on the way for my fly plaid, I may have to think about making my next kilt a solid green or green shadow tartan with a matching brat.

SWK Brooch
I purchased that exact brooch, careful though, it is silver, not the "Bronze tinge" it appears to have in the photo. For the price this thing is great...and H U G E !
