Well, for what it's worth, my Stillwater kilts have a little bit of that going on, and that is why I asked which kind of kilt it was.
The apron edge was the main flipper because that edge does not come with the flare like Barb is talking about. I re-pressed it with the long sweeping curve and it fixed that problem.
I have pinned up the edge of the flipper pleat with a slight flare toward the bottom as an experament. It does seem to help the problem, but I have no way of knowing if that puts the edge of the pleat off it's stripe. I will just live with the slight flip.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
Yes, I have squirrels in my brain…

All of my Stillwaters, both of my Burnett's and Struths casuals and my latest kilt from http://www.allscottish.ca/ have had this problem with the left edge of the apron and the reverse pleat at the right edge of the apron. Do like the rest of us and wear it until it tells you just where it wants these pleat edges to be, and then get out an iron and press the new pleat edge into existence. Voila- the well behaved kilt. Its really not a big problem.
I've kilt for less.

By the title of this thread, I thought you were really angry about pleats..."Flippin pleat!"
