That's what happened to me!! I messed up my back and spent 6 months in bed. That destroyed my metabolism. Before I realized it, I was over 420!!
Terrible!! And then I made friends with a guy by the name of Justin. It turned out that ol' Justin is an 8th degree black belt in 2 different styles of martial arts. Thanks to him, I as of tonight am down to under 290 and a green belt in his weird blend of shotokan karate and jujitsu. Of course, I spend most of my week sore. I do three nights a week in his private dojo with he and his assistant instructor grilling me. I would actually weight a lot less, but I'm extremely muscular under the chub. I highly- and I mean highly- recomend a martial arts class. But you have to be really careful of the instructor. Make very sure he or she really understands the physiology. Otherwise, if you're 45 and out of shape and injured, it can do you a lot more harm than good. Look into schools that are affiliated with the International Santen Karate Association (ISKA.)
Oh, and as much as I like Rex and his advice- this time he steered you wrong! Shame on you, Rex!
