    Food and Pubs in DC

Okay, I get into DC regularly for business, but rarely stop for a bite or a pint. Usually I only get to do that, when I'm in town for a DC United game or to wonder around the mall for an event.

Question to those that know DC better than I: where would be a good place for a bite to eat and maybe a pint of Guinness before the concert? My plan is to stop at Shady Grove and take the Metro toward the Kennedy Center. I'll walk or take the bus shuttle thats offered from the GWU/Foggy Bottom stop. I'm sure there's good places around that stop, or I could go anywhere via the metro, but I'd thought that I would ask if there was anyone in the know!

    Thanks!

How'd the concert go?? I'm sorry I couldn't help out with restaurant recommendations. To be honest with you I don't eat out much and I wouldn't know which restaurant to recommend. ... Also I was distracted over the whole weekend with that Swing dance thing...

Not that it's relevant, but for some reason I read the thread title as The Chieftains Vs Coast Guard Pipe Band...

That would be an interesting sight.

The concert was great. I ran into a couple of fellow Xmarkers and they looked dandy. There was a few of us that were kilted (besides the pipe band) and the ambassador of Ireland was in attendance as well. It was the first time I've been at the Kennedy Center and was impressed with the acoustics. I was at the very back in the box seats and felt like I was on stage listening to them play.

I had an interesting time at the pub later that evening. A drunk wanted to know if I rode horses. ( I was wearing my Brian Boru, Black Tie, and Irelands National). Go figure. A bunch of guys were having a birthday party in the back of the pub saw me and gave me a thumbs up. One of them (the birthday guy?) was a national rugby player I think.
