I have read where Houndstooth originated from Northumberland/Shepherd's Tartan. Whereas Shepherd's tartan is a check of squares, Houndstooth is not. That difference noted, is Houndstooth considered a Tartan, or "Tartan variant" and thus acceptable for a Kilt?

Hmmm...a houndstooth kilt. Like they said about Kinky for Governor: "Why the hell not?"

There's no rule that says that a kilt must be made out of tartan. I seem to remember even seeing one made out of tie-dyed fabric...or is that the product of my fevered imagination?

Welcome to X-Marks, by the way!

    ~Ken
