Sanford, once you get your laces you could order a set of these to get the leather "thistle" ends. As for the red laces, I would check out your local shoe shop and get a suitable white pair and dye them. Also, maybe you could explain why red ones are correct for formal wear. I have never heard of such a thing till I seen it posted here a couple of times. Also perhaps a Mod could move this over to the Traditional section.

The link above is for round hiking laces. Not sure if its the thickness you are looking for. From the description it sounds like you get 144" of lace and you cut to length. Red and Navy are the only colors available in the checkout.
