When a Argyle Jacket is just too dressy.

I've been meaning to post pictures and details of the Jacket I designed to fit better with today's style of dress.

I have always thought that the Argyle Jacket, and others like it, were a little too fancy. So I started by designing a Jacket that can be worn more like a Suit Coat, but cut for wear with a Kilt.

The first versions were OK but I don't have the expertise to tailor a good looking and long lasting Jacket. This lead me to approach a company in the UK that makes other Jackets and proposing my design to them.

This Jacket is now being made by one of the leading Kilt Jacket manufactures in the UK to my design. Made-To-Measure to your exact specification.
Right now we have only received the Brown Tweed Version but will be offering it in a wide range of fabrics.




Here is the result.



The Jacket is cut Fell long as an Argyle is. It has a cut-away in the front for the Sporran. But unlike an Argyle this Jacket has a three button front.

Please note that the Gauntlet cuff of the Argyle has been removed and replaced with a standard three button cuff like that found on a regular Suit Coat.




The back of the Jacket has proper double vents.



Also note the I removed the Epaulets and the Scalloping of the Jacket lower Pocket Flaps.

The Jacket has imitation Horn Buttons.



There are Two lower Pockets and one Breast Pocket on the outside.




All of the Pockets are fully functional. Here is a shot of the Jacket Liner and the inside Pocket.







The Jacket is available with or without a 5 button Waistcoat.



The Waistcoat has two functional Pockets and a satin back.




If you want a really good quality Kilt Kut Suit Coat this may be what you have been searching for.
The Jacket will be available in a wide variety of Tweeds. This one is a wonderful Caramel Colored Herringbone Tweed.

This Jacket and Waistcoat are available now, and is a true Made-To-Measure Jacket.
I should have fabric swatches in just a few days for all of the available fabrics.

Looks nice Steve. Is the vest fit so the adjuster strap isn't on the back? Speaking of the vest, you're one of the few I've seen wear the vest with the bottom button correctly left unbuttoned. Congratulations on a clean good looking design.

Are the two double jetted pockets on the waistcoat the only option, or could one get a waistcoat with four welted pockets?

A very nice looking jacket Steve, Brown in Tweed however is not that hard to come by, for example Geoffery Tailor has a Brown in their Auld Reeky range of tweed. I do like the way you have modernized the kilt jacket, one question to ponder would you also be able to do a kilt from the same tweed? Thus creating a modern Kilt Suit?
