Interesting. I had never seen that video before! I must have been away from the museum on the day he came by.
I had to go look up the name "MacCoig" after watching this. In Tartan For Me, by Phil Smith, the MacPhee tartan is recommended for the name. I'm sure that was the reference he must have used in our museum, as we do have that book. However, while that book is our standard "go to" for initial look-ups, because of its great number of names, it is also not without error, and I always try to cross check it when possible with another reference.
I do kind of wonder why he showed the MacLeod crest with the Wallace tartan early on in the video.....
