That is the exact reason I won't buy them or most any other off the rack kilts. They have always had an A shape on me. However, I don't think it is because of the pleats. I believe it is because of my hip size so you get those first pleats flipping out. I have a bigger than average hip size, which means I need a custom made kilt.
My USAK casual was 103 including shipping. However, that was on the sale for St. Patricks day (15 percent off). Go to their website, it has the answers to any questions you need.

I think he is referring to the eBay stores like Heritage of Scotland, not the individual seller you might find that has a great deal on a well made kilt.

mate, to my eye they both look just fine, I wouldn't stress, here. I'm a big fan of USA Kilts, and Rocky and Kelly are the schiznit, for sure. Wear them both with pride, and stand tall!
AND......
In regards to your post, above about finding a "nice" kilt.... USA Kilts Semi-traditional is a pretty darned nice-looking bit of kit. You could do worse than to get one of them for your more "dress-up"' situations.

Sorry Joly (you don't mind me shortening your name do you sir? It's a bit of a mouthful! ), I have found some bargains, a denim 21st Century Kilt (Contemporary) at just £30 / $45... It's the cheap crap that bothers me, the 'Authentic Scottish' highly flammable Viscose kilts made in the Far East...
The sad thing about the Heritage of Scotland one is that as it's solid black, it's more like an A-line skirt in appearance and there's WAY TOO MUCH pleats at the back...
