Back in the day
Not all BW were Campbells, 3 of the 6 regiments were Campbells
Not all Campbells were in the BW
so it is hard to assume BW = Campbell. Plus this was a long time ago.
The BW is a nice tartan, glad to see they copied it from the Lamonts .
That is not really the case, I jest. The BW was first designed for the regment and both the Campbell & Lamont clans later used it for the basis of their tartans.
The Lamont's added a white line,
The Campbells have several tartans, they added a yellow line, a yellow & white line or a yellow & red line.

Actually, the Campbell chief only recognizes four tartans, three for the three different "houses" of the clan, and the Campbell, or BW.
As a Douglas, our modern also takes after the BW, many of the green and blue tartans pop up after the forming of the regiment.

The have a long and storied service. To ignore all of that in favor of one action is a disservice to the unit and what it really represents.
I AGREE !
I for sometime , even though I liked the Tartan, I held back partly because my direct Rel. was a a Black Douglas ) But as Streetcar said, it represents the TARTAN of some VERY BRAVE MEN, who have aided in my FREEDOM.
BTW I have 1 Mil. Issue BW Kilt. I wear it with PRIDE. ( note I am ex military - US Army )

Sir, I applaud you.
My wife is of direct Campbell stock. I'm vurra tired of no person asking the question, "What aboot the MacDonalds and the McLeods and the kirk and the torches"?
The Cambpells of Breadlebane were guilty of violating hospitality, The MacDonalds violated Sanctity(or was that sanctuary?)

Black Watch is definitely on my list, just a bit darker than my Campbell kilt which I wore today. A nice heavy 22oz would be nice for the cold days!

Well... I can bear the sight of it OK, but you're not likely to see me wearing it any time soon.

I too have a BW kilt and wear it with pride for all those brave men from the past who worn it. Being former military I understand the tradition.
Besides I love the dark colors of the tartan.

I'm confused, if you have a Campbell, don't you in fact have a Black Watch?

The Barry, you are correct. He would have a BW if he has a Campbell. Regardless of the shade, it's the same tartan.

BW P#$%ts
I once owned a pair of dress slacks that were BW. I thought they looked great. Then I gained weight and lost the slacks. Then I lost weight and still couldn't find the slacks. But I've always been partial to BW. I like the deep tones and the simplicity.
