The gig went great! I made very few mistakes (quite the feat considering I had to learn 10 songs in 3 days). Aside from the few comments about me wearing a skirt (idiots who were just trying to get under my skin), most people thought it was cool.

    Here's a few pictures:

    Thanks for all the support.

Also, the drummer mentioned that he wants one too. Maybe I can get him into one, and then we can get the rest of the guys in them.

This up-comming Friday we have a gig at a pub, so I will most certainly be wearing my kilt. I will probably ditch the hose and flashes because they are a little hot, and most likely I'll just be in a t-shirt.

You could easily dress the kilt down and rock out at the same time. Might I suggest a cool t-shirt (as you mentioned). I agree that the hose and flashes are probably a little warm. Some cool combat boots and white or black socks would be perfect. Check out an Army Surplus store if you have one. If you really wanted to stand out, you might fashion your own sporran chain to be a little more "edgier". That might silence the uneducated "skirt" posers too!

1/8" welded chain is smooth and won't snag on the kilt. I have a piece that I use as a sporran chain that fastens with a clip in the sporran's loop. I made a black leather patch with a loop that slides around to the backside that has the band logo embroidered on it. I can also slide my belt through it and it keeps everything in place when the stage energy gets high. The pickup for my instrument is wired to a transmitter that I just drop into the sporran during the performance. The band uses a wireless pickup and mike system. We sometimes start our antics some distance from the stage...
