Apologies for it being a weeknight. It's down to availability for Philip and I. We'd planned to meet up for a quiet pint after discovering we currently live fairly close, then I thought it might be a good idea to turn it into a Kilt night.

Alex, Chas, Dark Islander and anyone else, it would be great if you could make it.

The meeting venue is 7:30pm (or there abouts) in The Black Horse which is right in the centre of Preston. It's opposite the St. George's Shopping Centre (AKA The Mall) in the pedestrianised walkway. Robinson's Beer too so if you like real ale, what better excuse! They serve a cracking pint of Double Top.

For walking directions from the Station use Google Maps from Railway Station, Preston to the Pubs postcode (PR1 2EJ), it's about half a mile.

Cheapest Parking (6:30pm to 8:00am) is on Hill Street which is directly behind the Black Bull Pub and about 50 meters and across the main road (the Ring Way) from the Black Horse. There are other late night car parks on the above link such as Bus Station and Market Hall, all within walking distance. (If you are coming by car please be mindful of drinkin' an' drivin' )

For anyone thinking of stopping over, the closest, affordable Hotel is probably The Ashwood which is just down from the station. You'll need to ring them to check availability.

    Ashwood Hotel,
    11-13 Fishergate Hill,
    Preston.

    Outside UK: (+44) 1772 203302

Trefor, Hamish, JolyStNicholas, thanks for the good wishes! I'll post some pictures after the event. If you sit down with a pint while viewing them it'll almost feel like you were there.

Anyone else who wants to come, stick a reply on this thread or just turn up on the night.

Alex. Best wishes to Ann from Çağman and I.

After having a couple of pints in the Black Horse over the weekend I can reliably inform you all that they serve a rather nice pint of Robinsons' 'Trouble & Strife'!

On Tuesday I'll also be bringing some of my designs for proposed Preston and Lancashire tartans. Hopefully we can have a bit of debate about a campaign for other British County tartans
