Our trip to Franklin North Carolina
As I said in this thread Catherine and I spent last week at her house in Franklin North Carolina. I have posted some photos of the Loch Norman Highland Games and the Scottish Tartan Museum, but thought I'd give a wee report of my time in North Carolina, including some other pictures. I've been to a few states in my time on the motorcycle, I been through NC before and did some of the Blue Ridge Parkway in the past but nothing prepared me for the sheer beauty of the state, when you stop and look around. The scenery is breathtaking it really was a wonderful week.
Here are some of the photos from the week.

One day we went to the Whistle Stop Mall it really is worth the drive over as it is very unique, I'd have loved to bring home a ton of furniture however it would not fit in the sunfire and the duties would be astronomical.

As a former resident of Franklin, NC, I know what you mean. It is a wonderful place. It seems you were taking advantage of my favorite places. The Whistle Stop mall is wonderful, filled with collectibles. I've found Scottish goods there.

This tree was in a rest stop just as we passed through into North Carolina, and I just had to get a photo of it. Catherine told me these trees are all over the state.

A cow at the side of the road

Here is the log cabin that Catherine's friends father built, just behind it and around the corner is the waterfall.

Fabulous pics, Glen, keep them coming.
Some interesting artefacts to be seen in that mall.

Some of the flowers at Bill's place,

I was climbing the hill to get some flowers and apparently I answered the question for the ladies who were sitting on the picnic table below. This also happened at the Tartans Museum, I was standing at the top the stairs, with my back to them, completely forgetting about the four little old ladies who were downstairs when I hear
shuffle shuffle
giggle giggle
As I looked behind me I caught a glimpse of them turning the corner, I guess I made their trip to the museum special.
All in all it was a great trip to Franklin, Matt was just a wonderful person to talk to and I wish I had had more time to do so, the second time we went to the museum Matt was swamped so we did not have as much time to socialize as on Tuesday. Everyone I met was genuinely nice save one man who I bumped into going into the KMart. The whole thing went something like this:
Man
"You forgot your britches"
Me (looking down and seeing his boots)
"You forgot your Horse"
Man
"I don't think so, I don't think so"
Me
"You don't think much"
Man
"What is it with this f-ing skirt stuff anyway?"
Me
"It's an F-ing Kilt you jerk!!!"
The rest of the time in the K-Mart he keeps looking at me like he wants to kill me, and I him, we left before anything like that happened.
