Not to usurp your mission, but around the time of the discussion on how to improve XMTS, I had given some thought to a philanthropic arm for this community, associated perhaps with paid memberships to fund it. A board would need to be formed to agree on a mission and vision, choose beneficiaries, raise contributions, manage the funds, arrange for delivery of donations, and promote community outreach at appropriate opportunities. It seemed like a tall task, and I didn't know how the owner of the site would feel about such a suggestion, so I withdrew the thought. What I really don't know is whether or how a global community such as ours with a niche interest will find resonant causes to support.

So, there - I put it out there finally.
