The Fabrics that are listed as "Suiting" today are usually a very fine weave. If you look through the stores as Mens and Womens suits you will see what I mean.

These fabrics drape very nicely for the application they were designed for. And would be suitable for a Casual or Hot Climate Kilt.

But do not expect them to have the feel or swish of a true Kilt weight fabric.

But hey, you said you are making an X Kilt right? Then go ahead and use whatever fabric you can find and like. That is what the X Kilt was designed to do. Use inexpensive fabrics and allow almost anyone the chance to make something for themselves.
It's supposed to be fun. So go ahead and try it.
