While the glue was setting I cut and soaked a strip of rawhide, punched some holes, and laced it loosely.





When the glue had set I whittled and shaved until the bottom of the antler and the top of the wood were well-approximated. Then I slid the still-wet rawhide tube up over the join, and tightened and tied the lacing. When the rawhide dried it formed a reinforcing collar, and a nice finished look. I snipped off the lace ends after drying/





Two coats of polyurethane to preserve the antler, a couple of skunk tails for froo-froo, and voila!
