That looks very nice, and you've picked a handsome shade of green. I like working basket-weave, too. It's not difficult, is "different" looking, and works up quickly. Just make sure you work the top of your sock in ribbing for most of the height of the cuff, minus about half an inch. When someone wears the sock, the cuff will stretch sideways, which will shorten the height of the cuff. That shorter height will show ribbing unless you work a little bit of the pattern under the cuff.

Gotcha, I think.
I thought the garter section on KAL pattern #1 was a bit too long, so planned to shorten it anyway -- making the garter depth somewhat shorter than cuff depth. That will accommodate some cuff stretching/shortening during wear.
