Cemetary Visit

So I know Memorial day is a day to remember the great warriors that have sacraficed so much in the name of freedom. The cemetarys are full of flags this weekend. But I stopped to see my Grandmother, a warrior in her own right as she sacraficed much for me. Nice sitting with you again grandma!


I hope everyone remembers the soldiers and the ones they loved that have passed.

I hope everyone remembers that Memorial Day is not only for those fallen in service to our nation. It is also for those who remain Missing in Action, Prisoner of War and yes, those who returned to farms and cities to die of a gratefully old age.

Go out this weekend, have a family picinic or barbeque. Just remember those who either put their own lives on hold or on the line so we can do so. Many gave up all their tomorrows so we can have today.

Always Remember. Never Forget. Some Still Serve.

By the way, nice kilt and photo. Grandmas need remembered, too.

I was one of the fortunate ones who served and was able to come home and hang up the uniform.

I'll be wearing my U.S. Navy kilt tomorrow to commemorate all of my comrades who weren't as fortunate.

As we say in the Submarine Community, several of our boats are "still on patrol".

As a member of the Westminster Cemetary Board of Managers, It was again this year my pleasure and honor to place flags on the graves of our Veterans from Carroll County, Md. As I was makeing my way around the cemetary, I was informed that the father of a soldier missing in Vietnam died before learning the fate of his son. I took it upon myself to place a flag at the fathers head stone not only for the father, but also the son. There is no marker for the son, as the family still holds hope that the son is alive. But he still deserves recognition for his service to the USA.
To all the veterans on this forum.....Thanks for your service.

Not all hero's are born on the fields of combat but rather in the kitchens and bedrooms and classrooms as they fight the fight to make and keep this as a civilized world and society. Mothers, Fathers, Grandfolk, Aunts and Uncles and just plain folk live lives of quiet heroism and deserve their own honor and decoration and our love.
