For any group honouring a serviceman, there are very few American Legion posts that would not jump for the opportunity to host the event. Many of the posts around here host and sponsor pipe bands. I am one of many that wear the kilt at my own post. Quite a few Leathernecks, and only a few Air Force.....
I do not know the locations or availability in Texas.

hmmm
I had a gentleman from a local Legion hall approach me at a walgreens and started a conversation about my tartan. He was very friendly and excited about seeing me in a kilt. I am sure they will be positively receptive.

I have played pipes @ the local VA a few times, the old dogs always come up and tell me stories about the ladies from hell they fought with ( sadly the last time I went in there, there were less of em to tell stories)

I am sure you thought of this, but be sure to get pictures, and maybe have the news media there.

I would think that with the large military presence in Texas, that there would be plenty of American Legion, Veteran's of Foreign Wars, etc. Posts. My own post is made up of mostly WWII members. We still get a goodly number out to Logan Airport when a service person returns from the war zone. We host "welcome home" functions for as many as we can. We encourage civilian participation in honouring those that serve at these functions.

A Message from SPC Zachary Boyd
Received this email this morning -
I cant express to you how deeply honored I am to recieve such recognition. I will most likely be able to attend a ceremony during the second week of July. I will give you as many up dates as I can about when I will be able to come home. As you know everything in the army is subject to change, but the second week in July should be good. My waist size is 34" and height is 68". Due to the picture I have recieved alot of support and recognition from many organizations and people, but this is by far the greatest honor yet. Please express my deepest graditude to all the members of the post and X-marks.
Sincerely,
SPC Zachary Boyd

If that doesn't make you feel warm and fuzzy inside, I don't know what will.
