Kilt with boots - again

If I have to wear shorts with my combat boots (I don't mix my combat boots with my kilt), I just wear the socks issued with my boots. They're about an inch or two taller than my boots, so there's no need to scrunch or wear flashes. They look like a natural choice, since they're paired together by the DoD

I have no compunction against combat boots with my kilt. But ditto on the socks with combat boots. Mine come barely past the tops of my boots and I think looks rather good. I tried the scrunched look with em and just found it a little odd looking on my leg.
