    Actually, I kilt on my non-scene shop days... I've worked at places that have a no shorts in the scene shop policy. I don't because they can't seem to get the air handling set correctly, (the building is improperly zoned) and they tend to sacrifice the scene shop. I ask my students to show up dressed in layers so they can adjust to whatever the temperature has to be that day.

    Kilts are great but they cost to much to get messy.

    I have worn a kilt to run a show on two occasions, one fashion show and one benefit fundraiser. I have had positive reactions in both cases. That said, I still think carefully about the choice; it is not my job to distract focus from the "stage."

    A few summers ago I was designing a show and at the last minute we lost a crew member. I was doing the show away from home, and the only black "Pant" like things I had was a kilt, and I said "OK I can do the show, but I'll be in a kilt" and they said "OK" and that was that!
