Not trying to change directions here, but with all the titles and honorifics that Prince Charles has, does the way one addresses him change? For instance, would it be bad form to address him as "your Grace", since he's a duke, and "your Lordship" since he's Lord of the Isles, and so forth, or is he always addressed as "your Royal Highness"?

One should always use the most senior title; so "Your Royal Highness" is the one. When in doubt and also non UK and non colonial residents are given a wee bit of leeway here, so, "Sir" will get you out of a hole!

Thanks, Jock. The next time HRH stops by to borrow a cup of sugar I'll know what to say.
 Welcome back, by the way.

Others have given the answer for the surname, Bowes-Lyon, which I knew but which didn't come to mind immediately. However, nobody seems to have noted that there is a Lyon clan tartan:-

It just occurred to me: wasn't his grandmother from Scotland? Does anyone know what her maiden name would have been (and its associated tartan)? For that matter, now that I think on it more, what is the Royal family's surname- Windsor??? I don't know if I've ever really thought about that? Curious...

After some discussion between the moderating staff, and a request from the membership, it has been decided to reopen the thread. I do this cautiously as we have seen in this thread already, politics can creep in. Please remember our rule regarding political discussion. Lets keep this one the way it was intended. There will be no more warnings and no more reprieves for this thread, it will simply be deleted, if it goes down the political road again, next time it will not be back. Please feel free to post photos you may have of the duke in a kilt.

Just a suggestion.... why not declare this a "picture only" thread (like a few others before have been, such as Vintage Photos, etc), and simply go through a delete any post that does not contain a picture of HRH (which would include this one!).

I think he's a great example of how to wear Highland attire and it's been wonderful to have so many good photos of him so dressed all in one place. It' be a shame to loose that. And as the photos are really the meat of this thread, just get rid of all the other comments. No need to throw out the baby with the bath water!
