First, avoid white/creme hose like the plague-- they emphasize the thickness of your calves.

Second, wear your socks a bit lower-- say two or three fingers width below the bottom of the knee cap. This will make you legs look thinner and longer.

As far as colour goes, stick with darker colours, as others have suggested.

And remember-- you ideally want to show about 4 or 5 inches of leg between the top of your socks and the hem of the kilt.

I'd go with the 4 or 5 inches between sock top and kilt bottom but pipers favour white socks and it seems to work well in most civilian pipe bands. I don't think it really matters, Black, Green, White? It's you're piping the punters are concentrating on surely. I'm positive whatever you choose will be a winner. Buy a pair of each and oscillate. But then again... what do I know? Don't what ever you do, follow the advice of a trombonist from England!

Everything does look great. My only opinion is that, and someone may correct me if im wrong, perhaps go with a shorter tie? Im not sure how short it should be, but in the first picture it looks like it might go underneath your kilt. Red is a good color choice i think though

    Thumbs up

Nice look for kilt AND belt !!! My hose vote is also for bottle green or navy blue.

The kilt looks good. Congratulations on losing some weight. My vote is for the bottle green or navy blue. I like that the navy blue would help thin the calves and emphasize the pipes.

If you wife tells you to buy something, consider it permission. Don't let the moment pass.
