I feel the first vest is a bit loud because of the pattern, it could clash with your tartan. I think with the solid, you are on the right track.. with the right tartan, a red waistcoat paired with a charcoal or black jacket would look nice.. I am wanting to get both a solid red and a solid green vest to wear with those color jackets.

See I was trying to figure the same thing, one waistcoats a couple different jacket colors. I figured on the black, seemed it would good with pretty much anything even green or gray, and go as well on it own.

I wonder about ther style and cut though, those look the type you would see with Edwadian trousers????

Wear what you like, and like what you wear!

My two cents, and that is thier exact worth

I thank everyone for their kind and thoughtful advice! I admit, I'm still undecided, but you 've all given me something to think about!

First, I want to say that the first one is a little on the ***bling bling*** side for my taste, and would be hard to wear tastefully, so the second one is the one I would go for. Second... have you seen this?

Get those tails cut off by a tailor in the style of a Prince Charlie, and man! That, the vest and the kilt would look sharp!! I know what I'm saving up for now!

Man that's a nifty coat - I'm tacky enough I'd probably leave the tails on just to see people gasp and flee from dress code terror
