Assuming you have the kilt straps buckled as tight as they go...does the kilt slide over your hips to the floor?

If it doesn't, or if adding a belt holds the kilt up, I would suggest you just practice wearing the kilt and get used to the "feel" of the kilt. It may not be as likely to slide off as you fear. Would recommend taking it out for a hike somewhere remote where if it does slip too far you won't be embarrassed.

You may find the feeling that its gonna slip off is just getting used to wearing the kilt.

Now if that's not the case and its way too big then go with the suspenders under your jacket.

Rather than suspenders, if it's just a little loose, you only need to have the buckles moved a bit and it should cinch up nicely.

    Be well,

If you're going to do suspenders...

    Be well,
Don't try to use Aligator-clip type suspenders with a Tank... (they won't hold, and if they do, they'll either be ruined or mar the tartan IMHO) have buttons sewn inside the apron and use proper buttoned suspenders...

    Very good advice.

If your time constraints prevent any of the tailored options, a good pair of button braces could help solve the problem quickly.
