There are sources of quality tartan hose and diced for quite a bit less than two-hundred dollars. I don't have the links handy right at the moment
I think the diced hose tops were decided to be shooting socks, or something like that...
Perhaps you could wear the solid color hose, like the bottle green, but my gut feeling is that you should have tartan or diced with the Montrose Doublet.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
Yes, I have squirrels in my brain…

Now that's a good question! I am certainly not the authority, but I think, if they worked with the hose and the jacket I would wear em. I think technically it is said you should wear black, Argyll, or tartan. Dicing is most often associated with military wear, but I think Jamie said that it is not the sole domain of the Highland regiments.
Check out Skye outfitters, they are having some spectacular prices on Argyll and diced hose. I am going there. I have found em for asa high as 260, but that is absurd!!!

[QUOTE=JSFMACLJR;756910]I could never recommend black hose--unless it was to wear instead of white if no other colour was available!
I do agree with you, but, if you are wearing a black shirt, or, a black jacket, and there is black in the tartan....?
There is so much red in my tartan I don't think I could do red hose, I wanted to do red and green dicing, then I realized I would look like a Christmass tree!
I'll take suggestions though cause I am putting aside money to get some diced and Argyll hose!

What about the "triced" (3 colour) hose from Skye Highland Outfitters. I have just discovered them thanks to this forum. Red and green could be broken up with another colour perhaps.
