Actually there is an important historical connection between Glasgow and Clan Cameron. In the rising of 1745/46 Bonnie Prince Charlie's army captured Glasgow and BPC had given the order that the city should be sacked and raised to the ground. Cameron of Locheil, head of Clan Cameron, persuaded BPC to leave the city in one piece as a friendly city would be a wise thing to have should the revolution be won. The city of Glasgow was saved and to this day the cathedral bells of Glasgow are rung whenever a Cameron of Locheil, Chief of Clan Cameron pays an official visit to the city, in recognition of that fact.

I think that wee story alone certainly is a good reason for a Glaswegian to wear a Cameron badge.

The motto I was referring to is "Per Scribus Pro Deus Et Caledonia" translated means "To write for God and Scotland". And was authored by the society's founders.

While that site does co-opt certain precepts of the Society of Scottish Clarks, it is not officially affiliated with the Society in anyway. From my conversations with Elissa, it seems that that site was started by a 'gentleman' who joined the Society several years back, and after receiving membership items such as a clan crest badge and official newsletter, went his own way. I don't know the whole story, but there seems to be some sort of strife between him, and the Society.

We tried to get a message board going on conforums a few years ago, however, it didn't see a lot of use, and ended up going the way of the Dodo.

If you contact Elissa, she can get you the information on the Society, and joining and whatnot. It's been a few years, but back then it was like $25, and you got a nice color print of the Crest, a pewter badge for the cap, and a newsletter. I used to have an e-mail address for Elissa, I'll see if I can find it, and get it to you if you like. No promises though, not sure I've still got it saved on an existing computer.
