After the last election there were articles stating that President Obama should wear a kilt because of that side of his ancestry should he visit Scotland so we will have to keep a watch on that possibility!
I heard that the O'Bamas were Irish.

Perhaps his grandparents might have a Kenyan tartan.

Oh yes, Idi Amin, one time president of Uganda. He was a mass murderer and very fond of wearing the kilt. I'm sure you should be able to find a picture of him kilted. He was obsessed with Scotland. His victims were often dumped in Lake Victoria and used to wash up on the opposite shore in the neighbouring country of Kenya. The film "The Last King of Scotland" is about him.
Perhaps you were hoping for someone more pleasant?

It's hard to find any pictures though on the Internet, I shall continue trying.
Indeed. Saffron kilts, I believe.

What a fascinating question. I can't say I've ever even thought of it until I saw it on the forum today, but I too was keenly curious to know if any U.S. president had ever worn a kilt.
I suppose that aside from FDR as a child, no president has done so during office.
On a tangent however, I am very glad of the fact that Vancouver's current mayor has chosen to wear Highland attire commonly... (Or so I've heard).

Unless I am reading that wrong Teddy is writing about someone else wearing a kilt not him. I think Teddy was great but I'm not sure he himself wore a kilt.

The Murrays are Scots, taking their name from from Freskin de Moravia, who was the paramount lord in what came to be called Moray-shire. Many Scottish families who came from this area (Innes and MacMillan to name two) display the "Moray Mullets" in their arms, showing their heraldic origins to be in Moray-shire.
The present chief of the clan is his grace, the Duke of Atholl.
