I have been to San Francisco several times and have worn my kilts several times. I have even stood on the outside of the cable cars wearing a kilt. Dare I admit that I even have a photo and never had time to posted it?

San Francisco is a VERY tolerant city. Take a quick look at the various street festivals that take place during the year.

Bay to Breakers (a marathon) has a contingent called Bare to Breakers - yes a naked group of people running across the city.

Lovefest - in September each year, is a giant hippie parade that marches down the main street and flocks to the lawn right outside city hall. Once again - in true hippie fashion - there are even a bunch of naked people marching in the parade.

A little more on the sexual side is the Folsom Street Festival and the Dore Alley Street Fairs and there are tons of people doing all sorts of things - even naked and you will most definitely see kilted people there. In fact, I bought one of my favorite kilts there from a vendor who gets them from a mature lady who makes them for him. It is olive green with great black highlights - belt loops, pocket triangle, etc.

At Fisherman's Wharf you also might encounter the Naked Yoga Guy...

So with those examples...don't doubt wearing a kilt at all in San Francisco. We know how liberating it is so enjoy...and if you happen to be in "Rome" (meaning San Francisco) and one of those festivals are taking place...enjoy!
