I have this very pair. I actually wore them with my PC and Kilt on my wedding day. I've also worn them from time to time with the kilt for other formal occasions. I've in the last few months decided to retire them and get a proper pair of dress shoes as they just don't suit me anymore. Dr Martens Saxon Brogue. and yes I wear them whilst kilted! They're a distraction from the kilt to be honest
I don't know about with a kilt, but if it works it works! I would definitely wear the AJ1's in funky colors non-kilted though.
