What to wear to church (along with story)

On Saturday, before heading to a funeral for my wife's grandfather, we decided to head to one of the local malls. I have been looking for a tie that will match my new Ancient McKay kilt (that is the main reason for this post. I will need some advice on that, but would like to tell a story first.) I was not wearing my kilt (I know, BLASPHEMY!) but I had it in my hand. A young lady happened to be working at a little shop and saw me. She said hello and asked if that, what I was carrying, was a kilt. I responded yes and she seemed puzzled. She asked me why I had the kilt. I stated to her that I was trying to find a tie to match it. She then asked, "Are you going to get married or something?" So I responded with, "No, I just like to wear a kilt occasionally, just for fun." After that I started walking away and she had the most puzzled look on her face. She looked so confused that I was not wearing it for a wedding. I thought it was a funny encounter. I am sure it would have been a lot more interested had I been wearing the kilt (still working up to that one)
That brings me to the reason for this post. I have decided that the first place I would like to wear my new kilt (in public) is at church. I have a picture I will show you of what I want to wear and I would like a quick critique from each of you. But first, let me tell you what I usually wear, since that influenced what I decided to wear with my kilt. The summers here in Utah are typically hot, so I NEVER wear a suit coat. It just gets too hot for me. It is always a white shirt and tie with a nice pair of slacks. That is my typical Sunday attire. With that in mind, here is a picture of what I was thinking of wearing to church:

Let me know what you think. What would you change? I would appreciate any advice you could give.

 Brice

Very nice! I might wear a lighter colour hose. Cream would be nice especially if you have McKay flashes or ones that match the blue or green of the tartan.

Looks great together. Only one problem for me, I don't like short-sleeved shirts witha tie (just a personal thing). Being as summer in Utah could be brutal, I might just
have to change my mind were I there. I would also look for a blue oxford-cloth
shirt to compliment the blue in the kilt, for a more caual look, w or w/o the tie.
Still a great look, especially the sporran. Slainte.

					Hi Brice,
I think your outfit looks fine. The attitude I adopt in kilting situations is this - I am wearing the kilt = I am the expert. If you feel fine then you look fine and never be afraid to experiment.

Your look like you've got it put together. I too prefer long sleeve shirts with ties, and especially if I'm wearing a jacket. But, I also live just south of you in AZ, so it's acceptable given the summer heat.
I think that the color of the hose is just right and works well with the stripe in the tartan.

The only suggestion that I would make is to loose the tie from under the belt buckle.

Over all, I think the impression is quite nice. I think this is the first photo of you I've seen - you appear much younger than you were in my mind's eye. I agree with MrTackyTN about ties and short-sleeve shirts. So I'd like to propose a trade: give us some leg in exchange for your forearms.
I don't think it's just the camera angle - if a camera held at eye level can't see any knee, neither can any other observer you encounter. Try hiking the kilt a smidge so that there's a bit of tartan to be seen above the belt. And I think your hose could stand a slightly wider cuff - pull the opening down to just below the widest part of your calf instead of just above it where you have it now, so that the cuff covers your calf and not the top of your shins.

A few minor adjustments and you're good to go - wear what you have, and wear it with pride and confidence, and you'll look like a million bucks!

 Regards,
 Rex.

Yes I'd go with 'don't tuck the tie in' but it is nice to see a well tied windsor knot. Only other thing I'd suggest, keep an eye on where your belt keepers are and make sure they stay next to either side of the buckle. You have a great, smart (but not formal) look. Finish it off with a pair of well polished black leather shoes and your hot to trot. Nice one!

					Brice,
First off your outfit is fine as is.

However if you are looking for further refinement I can't say it better than XMTS' resident King- Rex Tremende did .

 Cheers
