My only advice would be no belt and no tall hose. I've noticed that the belt holds in a tremendous amount of heat compared to how much area it covers. So do hose. I'll also go out on a limb and suggest that going regimental is less comfortable in high heat/humidity than wearing high tech wicking underwear (the kind that backpackers wear). At least that's been my experience.

I agree totally! On those hot, humid days, going reg can actually be very uncomfortable! You sweat in places you don't want to. I personally really like those Hanes boxer briefs myself. They're like democracy- it's the next best thing to true freedom.

Saturday was my first full day out kilted, and it was a hot one -- 32 c / 90 f and humidity up at the high end. I made a 360 mile round trip drive that day, and even without a/c in the car, I was comfy.
It was with sad reluctance then, I put on my trousers to my duty as cantor in church that night (I'm not sure if Croatian Catholics are ready to be lead in song by a kilted Slovak!). The church seemed even hotter, and I can tell you, after being in my kilt all day, I could tell the difference.
I told my wife that next time we go away, as we are planning a run-away weekend to southern Ontario, I know that it won't be trousers I'm wearing!

My mothers church is primarily Hispanic and black, and my kilt wearing has been very well received. Give it a try- you never know! Tis better to ask forgiveness than permission.

In hot and humid Virginny, a USA Kilt casual, sandals and polo and I'm cool as cuke. Today, I wore a USAK 5 yarder with wool hose with temps of the mid 90s. Only wished I wore my new cotton hose form Townsend & Son.

Well! I fully support the right to kilt Bears.
From my experience out here in the desert during the rainy part of the summer season, it is the part of the kilt above the hips that causes any heat discomfort. With a traditional, non-pillow-butt kilt this is partly from wearing the kilt over the shirt. There's not much you can do about that, but then putting a thick leather belt over that same area compounds the problem.
Other than wearing a jeans cut, contemporary with the shirt out, there's not too much you can do. I am guilty of wearing sandals with my canvas kilt and an open hawaiian shirt over a T-shirt, though.

Casual Kilt (PV)
Short sleeve shirt
Hiking boots
Socks rolled down
But then I don't live in a humid area.

Get back here ya overgrown sporran!
Don't know why that line just popped in my head!
Humidity runs high here in South Arkansas, but I dont have much experience wearing a kilt in it, yet. I was comfortable in the light-weight short-sleaved button-up (too many hyphens) last week on vacation, but it was a cooler than usual day with relatively low humidity.

I said that to my cat once, and my wife threatened to divorce me.
