My first camo kilt

First of all, you did a great job for your first time out. I really like that fabric. I believe I've seen that pattern in some middle-eastern military gear, but i can't remember the country of origin. Can you provide any details or share where you got the material???

As for your fit, I don't think it is the apron at fault. From your photo of the kilt laid out flat, it appears that it is not tapered from hip to waist. If it fits in the waist, then it will be too tight across your hips because you are lager around in that region. From your photos it appears that this is the problem. Next time base the kilt on your hip measurement and then taper the pleated section to the waist. The X-kilt manual explains the why and how of this procedure, and you can easily apply it to your own kilt-making.

Nope...not middle eastern. Country of origin is US. It's multi-cam...JRB is right! It's made by Crye precision I believe. This is a superb camouflage pattern which was in competition for the new US Army Camo back when we decided to go with ACU fabric (which blends with nothing in my opinion). Many of our Special Forces now purchase uniforms made of multi-cam for wear while deployed. I personally have a set of "ACU" styled cammies in multi-cam. Let me warn you though...it's not cheap!!! The pattern is copyrighted and you pay for the name!!

JRB, The camo pattern that is used here, I believe, is Multicam, which was made by Crye Assoc. It was trialed for the US Armed Forces, and only a few spec ops units use it now.

I've been thinking of a Multicam kilt for my second project and you beat me to it! Very nice. Keep on refining and working at 'em!
