Glen...i like your second design alot......but what it the blue was the dark navy as opposed to the royal color?

Love the design, Glen, but I too like the dark navy better than the royal blue. In woven silk, of course, good width and the "right" length.

For that it's worth I'd suggest using two colours of blue separated by a narrow gold stripe (for the dandelion) as this will give the tie a less "busy" look. Generally striped ties are fairly busy with multiple stripes and colours, whereas club and regimental ties tend to be simpler in design and pattern.

Regimental and club ties harken back to the time when the "colours" were often the livery colours of the Regimental Colonel or founder/benefactor of the Club. Often a third colour would be introduced to provide a clean division between the broad stripes-- in this instance gold between two blue stripes.

A club tie, like a regiment tie or coat of arms, should be simple, and easily identified across a crowded room, on the platform of a foreign train station, or looped over the door knob of one's bedroom door when enjoying a weekend party at a friend's country house.

I would be interested in a silk tie. would give me a nice option for the days at work when kilts are out of the question. Working security the kilt is out of the question if I ever have to restrain someone.
